Abstract painting - warm to cool
July 12, 2014
Abstract PaintingThought of painting something different and more colorful. I remembered, how we drew abstract paintings back in school and then I thought why not take it next step further, with a theme.
So with this one, I wanted to capture the warm & cool colors in one painting.
I created another one, inspired from a peacock's feather
Art from waste!
Art from waste: I have always been a big fan of art made out of waste materials. In the past I have used empty cartons, thick sheets of paper, magazines, etc to create something useful like pen-stand or greeting card holder or just beautiful wreaths & wall-hangings. One more entry to the list of waste items is the kitchen roll, bathroom roll (the cylindrical roll left over after the tissue is used up). I just love this one as there is so much that can be done with these rolls. Just google "bathroom-roll art" and you will be amazed to see how these rolls can be used to make a variety of beautiful and useful art-works.
Quilling with a twist!
Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.
I started quilling few months back and since then I have found this art more and more interesting. I started off with traditional thin strips that are readily available in the market but have moved on to a little different version now. Few weeks before Valentine's day I decided to make heart-shaped frame using different tones of pink and red strips. But I couldn't get the specific colors of strips. When I was about to leave the store with disappointment, I saw a section of papers with almost all possible shades. And I picked up the ones I was looking for, cut them into strips (thicker than standard strips) and started off my project. :)
Valentine's day special!!
Since then, I prefer buying sheets of paper instead of quilling strips. Created a couple of more frames & wall-hangings using the art of quilling.
